Artist's Description

Unfinished drawing from a marble caryatid - one of this hands missing- from a classical greek temple. This kind of figure is designed to support the architrave in the porch of those sacred buildings, as in the greek Erechtheion. The gesture of this caryatid is to me an echo of some mourning significance and the shadows seems reminiscent of the wings of the godess of victory in classical sculptures.
